  Powers of Attorney

An Enduring Power of Attorney is a document by which you appoint someone to look after your affairs if you should become unable to look after them yourself, for example through illness or incapacity. Everyone should therefore give consideration to making an enduring power of attorney. Note that you cannot appoint an attorney once you have lost mental capacity.

If a person should become mentally incapable and there is no enduring power of attorney, a Court of Protection Order will be required, to appoint a representative to manage that persons affairs.

Angela Pierpoint of our Wills and Probate Department can advise and assist you regarding these matters.

Court of Protection matters are dealt with by our Tracey Smith.
